Invitation to focus group: can you help us explore new ways to help young people at risk of homelessness?

Shelter Scotland and Heriot-Watt University are exploring the potential of a new way to provide housing for young people at risk of homelessness.  The spare room scheme would match 16-25 year olds in need of accommodation with a host’s spare room, with rent paid for the room and support provided to the young person and ‘host’ during the placement.

If you would consider being involved in such a scheme, we’d like to talk to you, and others like you, about how this might work at a series of focus groups across the country. These discussions will help us understand the feasibility this way of helping young people.

We plan to hold discussions in Edinburgh, Dundee and Dumfries and Galloway.

If you can attend a focus group in central Edinburgh on Tuesday 6th March 6.30-8pm please RSVP to the details below as soon as possible.

We are also looking for participants in future focus groups in Dundee and Dumfries and Galloway. If you would be interested in attending discussions in these areas in March, please register your interest with us as soon as possible.

Anyone taking part in these discussions can opt to be kept in touch with future developments but there is absolutely no obligation to participate further.

If you are interested in being involved in the focus group, please email Janice Blenkinsopp at j.blenkinsopp@hw.ac.uk stating which you are able to attend.

Many thanks

The Shelter Scotland and Heriot-Watt University Team
