We have an exciting opportunity for two researchers to join us for 6 month paid homelessness research internships. Based anywhere in the UK, you will support the Oak foundation reviewing the progress of organisations funded through their Housing and Homelessness Programme and undertake your own independent research project.

The Oak Foundation is an international philanthropic foundation funding projects in conservation, human rights, abuse, housing, learning disabilities, and other social justice issues. In its Housing and Homelessness Programme, the Foundation focuses on preventing homelessness by funding sustainable solutions that improve the economic and social wellbeing of marginalised youth, adults and families. The programme has three priorities: promoting economic self-sufficiency; increasing the availability and supply of affordable housing; and preventing homelessness.
The Institute of Social Policy, Housing and Equalities Research (I-SPHERE) at Heriot-Watt University is a leading UK research centre in the fields of housing, poverty and social policy with a major international reputation. I-SPHERE staff specialise in research on homelessness, destitution, complex needs and other forms of severe disadvantage.
About you
We are looking for talented social researchers with an excellent undergraduate degree. You may have a masters or a PHD but this is not essential. You will have a unique proposed research project which will contribute new insights to the housing and homelessness field. You will be self-motivated with first rate organisation, research and communications skills.
What we offer
We have two internships available, one May-November 2018 and the other November 2018- May 2019. The internships are for 35 hours per week paid employment at the London Living Wage.
