Sarah is I-SPHERE Research Intern working on our Homelessness Prevention in the UK research programme.

Sarah is a qualified teacher with experience of working in homelessness, adult community learning and Further Education settings. Sarah began working in the homelessness sector in 2009 and has worked in day centres and hostels. Her roles have included teaching, support work and management of staff and volunteers. In November 2020 Sarah founded The Reading, Writing and ESOL Project, offering English language and literacy support, based on trauma informed approaches, to people living in hostel accommodation. In this role Sarah delivered learning support in six hostels run by three different Housing Associations. She also developed training for those working in the education and homelessness sectors and worked to highlight the need for accessible learning provision for people experiencing homelessness.  

Sarah is a passionate advocate of the importance of accessible learning provision within the homelessness sector, having witnessed over many years the opportunities for connection, healing and enjoyment offered by taking part in learning.  

Sarah will be conducting an independent research project on the role and potential of adult education in preventing homelessness.
